Maximize Your Energy for Increased Success

Time is a great equalizer - everyone has 24 hours in the day.� So, do you ever look across the office and wonder how your colleague seems to get so much more done during the day than you?� No, she did not find a 25th hour somewhere.� Nor is she super human.� Likely she is better at maximizing her energy and limiting energy depleting behaviors.� Here are some tips to ensure that you maximize your energy on a daily basis.

  • Find your most productive time of the day.� The majority of us have the potential to be most productive in the morning.� Plan ahead and schedule your most difficult tasks for the times when you are most refreshed and best able to concentrate.
  • Limit distractions during those times.� If you have the ability to be most productive when immediately arriving at work, save the e-mail and voice-mail checking until after your most important tasks have been accomplished.
  • Don't skip meals.� Food is fuel.� You cannot maintain your energy without it.� Eat small healthy meals throughout the day and you will notice a difference.
  • Take mental breaks frequently.� When you notice your ability to concentrate slipping away from you take a break.� Get up from your desk and take a walk or grab a glass of water.� Return refreshed and better able to tackle the task at hand.
  • Get more sleep.� TiVo the late night TV, turn off the laptop and turn in early.� With adequate sleep you can do anything.

None of us can increase the number of hours in the day.� What we can increase is our energy throughout the day.� Maximize you energy and you will experience increased success.
